Policy on Collections at funerals

Policy on Collections at funerals
Technically all collections taken at any services in Church (including funeral services) belong to the Church, however we appreciate that people sometimes prefer to donate to a charity in remembrance of the loved one who had died and in response to this the United Parish of Kirklington with Burneston, Wath and Pickhill, has adopted a policy that when collections are taken during a funeral service held in church, up to half of the collection may be donated to a charity if the family so wishes.

If a family wish for more than 50% of the collection to go to a charity, they should instruct mourners to donate via the funeral director rather than the collection plate.

Care of the dying

The Church has traditionally had a role in preparing people for death through prayer and continues to do so. If death is imminent then a priest needs to be found quickly. In such circumstances the parish priests will endeavour to be available, although they can not guarantee it. In the first instance contact Revd Ruth Hind on 01845567429 or Revd Lindsay Southern on 01845 567691. If there is no answer Do not leave a message, but send an email on, failing this please contact the Churchwardens. .
